OLD MAC DADDY - Elgin Valley, Western Cape (CHEAP, CLOSE & AWESOME VACATIONS)

OMG, Finally discovered GETAWAY Magazine, like,REALLY discovered it, hooked, they make life so much easier to find what you want, where you want it and at prices that'l make you feel financially secure...SO FRIGGING HAPPY. They are making our research job so much more fun, finding places for you to visit, but please don't wait for us to report on what they write about, they will do a much better job than we will, we are just filling you in on what we found whilst searching the Internet for CHEAP & CLOSE ACCOMMODATION, but this time in Cape Town. This is like PIMP-MY-RIDE goes Trailer Park,but in a SUPER COOL & COMPLETELY CLEVER WAY, ITS UNIQUE, ITS A TOTAL MUST DO AND SEE,....its like an acid trip without the acid, this is the ultimate playground, for anyone, its set in the most beautiful place we've encountered yet, its elegant on the outside and totally wicked on the inside......FRIGGING LOVE THIS PLACE TOO.

Old Mac Daddy consist of ten trailer suites, two lake-side units and a family farm house, or as they call it, Daddy's Villa. EACH of the trailer suites is in a world of its own, its like each has its own special little life that was nurtured to be exactly what it wanted to be when it grew up, and each is special creation of "Airstream" Trailers, with its own theme, style and feeling. Its all honestly quite weird and strangely wonderful, and no you cant attach a trailer to your vehicle and steal it...DADDY will be very cross.

All the lakeside suites have additional living areas and decks, which allows for light filled lounging and time out. An en-suite bathroom with shower adds to the luxury of the most beautiful and delectably delightful odd holiday ever.

They have an awesome Barn, Restaurant & Grolsch Bar, which is more of an off-piste designer ski-lodge, sans snow flakes, boasting dramatic agrarian vistas and vibe. Food is healthy, wholesome and there are treats throughout the day, featuring fresh & local ingredients for big appetites.

There is so much going on here, you may overstay your welcome, or sneak into someone Else's trailer...you can picnic, swim in the pool or dam, braai, there's a designer kiddies area, library, tours to and from wherever you want to go, why'd you'd leave once you arrive, we don't know, because the sole reason you come here is to get away,its close enough to Cape Town for a Capetownian to get away and feel it, and far enough for a travelling Vaalie or foreigner but you come to here to chill, to take in the beauty of the landscape and beauty that surrounds you, its like going to grandmas house on the farm, and letting her spoil you. (Grated this Grandma was kooked, but we love her all the same.)

Seriously, and its not expensive....their rates are totally reasonable, and more than worth it.

But then we go back to a little normal, but so elegant, the Barn, Restaurant & Bar...

how cute...its for reals...

and this is awesome too...best concert venue ever

ZIETSIES GUESTHOUSE, Aucklandpark, Gauteng - CHEAP, CLOSE & AWESOME

LOVING what we do......This month in TRAVEL & RELAXATION, we opted to find CHEAP, CLOSE & AWESOME Mini-Vacation Spots, places where it takes less effort to get to, costs you less than a big trip, but makes you feel like you've been to a Tibetan Retreat, or somewhere where you just left feeling refreshed and flippen awesome.

Our aim is not how fabulous the place is, but how fabulous it makes you feel.

Meet....Zietsies...

Ok, so we know its not quite outside of Joburg, but its one of those places that just doesn't matter, its like when you go to Mums house and you feel like you are away anyway. THIS place is stunning, its relaxing, its fun, its quirky, its just damn awesome. (From R550 p/night)

So, its situated on one of the highest 'koppies' in Johannesburg, (Hill), in the suburb of Aucklandpark, and the view stretches over the North of the city, all the way to the Magaliesburg, 70km away.

Its on of those places where during the day you have the beautiful and majestic greenery of the city's SEVEN MILLION TREE's at your feet, and at night the fairyland of lights.

Its suburb that is close to Melville, which has awesome restaurants, bars and artistic shops, trinkets and general great things to spend money on, and Zietsies will provide a driver to get you around for a night on the town.....BUT, we don't know if you'd want to go anywhere, because Zietsies is just too perfect to leave.

You see besides the beautiful view,and the gorgeous bedrooms, Zietsies, who is owned by the fabulous Elzabe Zietsman, also has a Dining Room, AN EXPERIENCE of note!!!

The dining room is run on the basis of a club to comply with local by-laws, and all fees, being R50 a year, are donated to The Doillie Foundation to assist talented kids in the arts and help them fulfil their careers.

THE GLASS CAGE is not a restaurant in the traditional sense, and is much better described as a private dining room, as they only cook on reservation. MAX 30 bottoms allowed, but in the week they will cook for 2, 20 or whatever comes their way, weekends minimum booking is ten peeps.

Elzabe never provides a menu beforehand as she buys and cooks whatever is fresh and available on the day, so its even a little bit of a surprise to her...love that. She does however allow for instructions for allergies, vegetarians, vegans etc...which basically means she is flippen awesome. (But give her advanced warning, shes a genius, not a Genie.)

BUT, WAIT, there's more, I know they don't advertise it on the website, but often there is entertainment, from either Ms Zietsman herself, or other fabulous friends she has on call.
