THAI MASSAGE with KAI THAI

The best way to have a holiday and experience relaxation at its maximum is to have a massage, right?!
So whether you are already on holiday and need more spoiling, or are just incredibly stressed and need a very effective release, we say the best is to go for a massage....
BUT, which massages are best? Which really give you what you want?
That's our focus this month in TRAVEL & RELAXATION, Massages, and the best types.

Its like God asked the therapists to hold heaven in their hands, that's what we want you to experience.

Our first choice...THAI MASSAGE!!!

Meet....
 &
One of our favourite massage forms is Thai Massage, and, KAI THAI, with their amazing settings and beautiful Spa's, brings you the best of Thai Land and the ultimate stress relief.

Most of the therapists, if not all, are dinkum from Thai Land, hardly speak English, except for, 'too hard?', or 'you want softer?', but it matters not, as they are going to give you all  the heaven you need. These ladies have been given the gift of touch, and know what the best pressure is for your tired, hardened, knotted  muscles. You will immediately feel a sense of calm as you walk in the front door of any of the spas and are welcomed to the massage rooms. And no matter how hard a massage gets, somehow you will still find yourself drifting into the abyss that is Thai La-La-Land. You may not want to leave. The atmosphere and the natural peace the ladies surround themselves in is hypnotic, addictive and totally infectious.

Why Thai Massage, as opposed to other massages? Firstly, let us just warn you, its a very invasive form of massage, and may feel a little uneasy at first if you are not ware, but its who they are and how they roll, Thai Massage, is very up close and personal. They use their entire bodies and not just their hands, so prepare for that part. Once you've accepted this, you relax and let them play and manipulate your body in ways you wish you could do yourself, and don't be fooled, these little ladies are moer strong, as they will ruk & druk you like no wrestler can, but the difference is that you will love it, and let them rag doll you into a deep peaceful sleep.

During a Thai Massage, the therapist uses her body to move the client into a variety of positions, and includes muscular compression, joint mobilization and acupressure. The 'ruk & druk' positions are very yoga-like and take relaxation to a whole new level. This also helps improve overall circulation. But not only are your joints being mobilized and your muscles receiving the best massage they've ever had, but also the best stretch you've ever had too. This then allows for a greater range of motion, which with the increased flexibility reduces muscle stress and strain and helps prevent trip and fall incidents.

But even though there is a serious workout and push-and-pull session, its also incredibly relaxing. The massage aspect, after acupressure allows for deep muscular release, reduced blood pressure, and enhances the circulatory system by increasing the circulation to the whole body and with it more oxygen to the brain.

This deepened form of induced relaxation, promotes a deeper nights sleep as well, which allows the body to heal itself physically, and leaves you feeling more refreshed upon waking.
And even though you will feel so relaxed afterwards, you will feel unbelievably rejuvenated the next day and have more energy than you've had in ages. Our advice, book a massage and go home and have a nap afterwards, and then have a light dinner, watch a light hearted movie and go back to sleep. You will feel like you have had a holiday, guaranteed!!!

MABONENG PRECINCT

This may seem out of place, but in fact its perfect for this segment. This month in TRAVEL & RELAXATION we wanted to remind or educate you on happenings in and around South Africa. We hope to have four very different features, but all with a common theme, RELAXING days out. We want you to have a day to be remembered, a day where many sense were heightened, and blown apart because of the sheer volume of fabulousness that was where we sent you. And in doing this, we want you to feel happy, and less stressed, the primary purpose of this segment.

Meet...the oh-so-fabulous....

After being told I have not lived if I have not 'done' Maboneng, I decided that being dead wasn't much fun, so I revived me and went to Mab's. MAN WAS I SORRY I WAS NOT HERE EARLIER.
WOW, what an experience, its a whole new world, bugger Cape Town and the Biscuit Mill, HELLO MABONENG PRECINCT and all it has to offer, I AM IN LOVE. (Ok, I sound like I'm having an affair because I seem to love everything, but allow me this love too... heaven.)

When I arrived I didn't know where to go first, because I went for the infamous Market on Main, but then got lost in the Concrete Heaven that is part of Fox Street Downtown Johannesburg.

So I kinda stuck to my plan and tried to by-pass the totally cool 'Sharp Braai Stand' where they serve real-deal African Braai food, no not Afrikaner Braai, African Braai, man it smelt good, and had such an awesome shop/stand set-up that I battled to resist and wrote down on my bucket-list for next time, but then there was 'Uncle Merves which serves Smoothies and Light meals, I don't care what they served actually, IT WAS JUST SUCH A COOL SHOP, God, I love our creativity and can do attitude in South Africa. But it also went onto the bucket list, have to go back. In fact there are so many places that went onto the bucket list that I need to live there a while, like a week, and stay at the coolest hotel/ apartment block in Gauteng, possibly Africa, the 12 DECADES HOTEL, the Johannesburg Art Hotel, where EVERY room is an art-piece, YES, the entire room.

Moving on to the reason I came, I went to MARKET ON MAIN, which was incredible, and again left me with choice issues, I wanted everything, the food was delectable, and the art, all of it, worth every penny, but this place will make you broke ya'l, I wanted everything. Its so creative, everything there, was so creative, why we go elsewhere is a mystery. There was this one stand that sold wood carved watches and another that jewellery from tea-spoons and table spoons, but like PROPA stuff, wearable, beautiful and incredibly unique, and surprisingly cheaper than expected, but worth so much more.

I moved on to Yogi Berry and tried THE BEST fro-yo's ever, so fresh. They have a specialized system to produce the fro-yo, that makes the freshest taste, with real fruit for flavour, no preservatives, no hidden crap, just fruit and the best tasting yogurt. YUM, meet the owner, shes a total gem.

I took a coconut from some random stand, at the market, where they chopped off the top, threw in a straw and drank the freshest real coconut juice straight from the source, BUT WAIT, they added a shot of Malibu, T.O.T.A.L.L.Y the best drink I've ever had.

Finall, with my coconut in hand, I settled on lunch at EAT YOUR HEART OUT, again, yum, and they refilled my coconut with a Mojito, how cool.
Then I landed up at the most incredible rooftop bar, called the LIVING ROOM, so unique, again! Its a Urban-Eco Cafe' Cuisine, Plant Art and Urban Design Venue, a mouthful, we know, but if you want cool vibes, awesome music (DJ's), tasty cocktails and interesting people, THIS IS YOUR SPOT.

I could go on, but I'm not going to, please go and have a look for yourself. I left feeling revived, and excited, and a little drunk, so get a cab, enjoy the moment, get happy, go to www.mabonengprecinct.com for more info, check out the event calendar, there really is SO much happening, day and night.

(On my bucket list for next time is the POP ART Theatre and THE BIOSCOPE.)

BOXING & MR PRICE

Home Exercise is not for everyone, but as part of our PRODUCTS & APPAREL section for this month, we feel it best you at least know what you can take home, what's practical and affordable, and what actually does work.
Exercise Equipment will never be a waste of money, ever, exercise is never a waste, and even if you are a gym bunny, there are those days when being at home would suffice, and then, even if that's the only time, then we want you to at least have the right tools. But we want to try and find products that are under R5000.00, AND do more that just blast-your-abs, lets at least blast a few more parts of that temple of yours.

Today we want you to get your mean on....

Boxing is an AMAZING way to get fit and strong, AND BURN FAT...its one of the quickest hardcore ways to burn calories as its so intense, up to 1000 per hour. But you can also deal with your emotions, frustrations and anger while you are exercising. Everybody needs to burn off pent up negative energy, so not only is this a physical wellness facilitator, but its 100% a mental wellness facilitator, without a doubt!!!

The stress release aspect is nothing short of marvellous, as its mental and physical, not only will it make you more cheerful, afterwards that is, but its good for your self-esteem, and emotional development...Boxing really does help you relax, as much as yoga would, but add the two together and you are sorted.

The stress we hold onto is often there because we cant let it out at others, whether it be physical or emotional, and all it does is fester, and festered emotions fuel Non-Communicable Diseases.

What we like is that this allows for self-defence skill development, as there are so many kicks and punch combinations involved, should you be caught in a bad situation, you can at least kick a crotch with intent, or break a nose and then get away.

But did you know that boxing can build a stronger heart and help maintain a balanced heart rate, as well as improve the strength of the heart muscles.

Because boxing involves sparring, bouncing, ducking, pivoting, punching and even kicking, it requires repetitive motion of, and from, your entire body. Its these movements that provide the strength and power to your core, back, arms and legs, as well as improving your joint strength and mobility.

WE LOVE BOXING!

We went shopping for you at Mr Price Sport for your start up kit, and this is what we think you need, ALL under R5000.00...yay

We think that's a good start, it may be all you need if you train alone, but otherwise sparring and kicking equipment are a good addition.

BUT, now here's the thing, what do you do once you have the goods, we suggest investing in DVD's, which you'll get at Mr Price, or online, BUT also go to a professional coach for a few lessons, just to ensure correct technique....there's that old thing people shouldn't say but do, 'You box like a girl', don't be that girl or guy who barely even massages the bag with a limp wrist.

Go to Mr Price Sport for more or find them @ mrpsport.com
