EMPERORS PALACE CLASSIC (CYCLE RACE) @ EMPERORS PALACE, GAUTENG.

So cycling isn't accessible to all, as you have to have a bike, and a good one at that, which is why we will blog about more running type events than cycling, but still, there are some amazing MTB and Road Cycling Events that we should all be trying to get to, many in fact, even if we have to borrow or rent a bike, see what its like, and then making a plan to own a bike. Cycling, as is Mountain Biking, is more than a hobby that might cost a lot to set up, its a lifestyle that justifies the expense. Its wind in your face, its speed on the down and a challenge on the up, whereas life is the other way round. Its another opportunity to show life you can have fun, or you can race, or you can have fun and race.

Entries are now open for the 8th edition of this fabulous race they like to call, the Emperors Palace Classic, which will take place over the weekend of 11 & 12 April 2015. (SO YOU BETTER REGISTER NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T, LIKE TODAY)

There re over 7000 cyclists who converge at Emperors Palace and the race is hosted by ASG Events, check them out, they have many other really exciting events going on. (www.asgevents.co.za)

This race has become know as a fast and exciting route, while the MTB challenge is an absolute blast inside the grounds of OR Tambo, so there's that option too. (Sounds quite fun actually), but both events represent a manageable Autumn Challenge.

So Gauteng didn't at the time have a large enough road cycle event after the CAPE ARGUS and the organizers felt that the Emperors Palace Classic would fill this niche quite nicely and keep riders on their bikes for a little longer before Winter sets in.

And its a totally safe race with 150 Metro Police Officers on Duty for the race, and another 200 skilled marshal's, so its totally a well organised event, but it is a ASG Event, so of course...!

Te Road Race has two distance options, 102km & 50km, both are flat and fast, so it wont kill you. One of the thrills of this race is the Airplane engines directly above you more often than not, and whats even cooler is that there is a Kids Classic, for 3-5 year old riders, as well as from 6-8 years old, so its truly an awesome event.
